Repair to Return

(Two Rooms Project)

We are on a mission to help as many flood affected people as possible get back into safe, secure and warm homes

  • Repair to Return Project

This program is designed to aid community recovery from the 2022 February/March floods with funding provided by the NSW Reconstruction Authority.

The Repair to Return project will facilitate the partial restoration of at least 250 homes; and the restoration of at least 100 bathrooms or kitchens. The Project is being delivered across the Northern Rivers and all requests for assistance from people impacted by the disaster of February / March 2022 will be assessed for eligibility.

Resilient Lismore has been delivering a partial restoration model of disaster assistance since the disaster occurred, the organisation has developed a flexible and adaptive assessment program which meets the individual need of each community member requesting assistance and the differing requirements for each dwelling.

Requests for assistance are received either online or face to face at the Hub in Lismore. Requests are then assessed by Resilient Lismore staff, who attend the property to undertake a site assessment as well as an assessment of current living situation of the applicant and any vulnerabilities. This assessment is used to determine eligibility. Once the request is accepted into the program, Resilient Lismore works with local construction companies, trades people and skilled volunteers to deliver a scope of works agreed with the help seeker.

Further details on eligibility are here.

If any of this sounds like you, come into the Hub and register or request help here.

  • Be warm, safe and secure

“Having walls again is going to make such a big difference. As a parent, being able to provide a warm, safe space is a massive deal.”

    — Courtney, Repair to Return recipient

  • Build skills. Build community

We are putting together teams of volunteers to build walls in the homes of people in real need. We welcome anyone to join - from beginners to experienced tradies. It’s a great opportunity to grow your skills and connect with your community in a meaningful way.

  • Help fund the project

We are asking for financial contributions to cover some of the cost of building materials and volunteer coordination.
Every donation increases our ability to help more people.

Resilient Lismore’s Repair to Return project is supported by the NSW Government.
